EDUCATION

The University of New Orleans                                                                                                      September 2011 - December 2014
Masters of Fine Arts - Film Production

Studied advanced directing, editing, screenwriting, cinematography, stage combat, film theory and criticism.
My studies not only honed my technique across various mediums, it also helped prepare me for life as a professional filmmaker.

The College for Creative Studies                                                                                                                   August 2005 - May 2009
Bachelor of Fine Arts - Entertainment Arts

- "The Philosopher's Stone," my senior thesis script, was awarded the Ibex Female Artist of the Year Grant of $4,000 towards the films' production.
- My proposal, "Women in Industrial Design" was selected during a competition presented by Ford Motor Company, in an effort to recruit girls to industrial      design careers. Upon winning, I supervised the student crew, which was in charge of producing a series of vignettes featuring female design students and their experiences meeting female Ford employees.  My proposal was a cross-platform, interactive experience, that marketed to high-school-aged girls nationwide through The Company’s website, as well as, in print.

- During my time at the The College for Creative Studies, I was founder and president of the The Cult of Forsaken Celluloid, a campus-wide film club, which screened Grind House, Classic and Criterion Collection films.

ABOUT ME

Often referred to as a “walking contradiction,” filmmaker Shena Mullins delivers fresh perspective with classic flair. Her distinctive style cleverly contrasts flamboyant hues à la 1960’s Technicolor Hollywood, with dark, provocative narrative drama.

Mullins received her MFA in Film Production from the University of New Orleans in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is currently the owner of Estranged Productions, LLC.
